All backsaws come with a traditional folded brass back. The bolts are also brass with classic split nuts. I keep various hardwoods in stock to choose from for handles and if you want something I do not have, I can usually find the species locally. The handles are cut out using a bandsaw but all the shaping is done by hand using rasps, files and sandpaper. The plates are blue tempered spring steel cut to size and are sharpened by hand.

Backsaw kits

Occasionally I sell backsaw kits. These include a folded brass back, a spring steel plate toothed to your liking up to 16 ppi. These parts will require you to shine the parts up yourself. Setting and sharpening is also up to you. Along the way I will help with advice on making a handle and assembling the saw.

I’ve been buying my brass stock and wood oil from Chase Glancy for a while now and highly recommend any and all of his products.

I dont think Chase is currently selling larger kits, so if you need a kit he doesn’t list, reach out to him and sell if he can accommodate you, if he can’t I will continue to supply larger kits for the time being.

A 14 inch backsaw saw kit is $100 plus shipping. Includes 3 split nut bolts. A .024 plate toothed to your liking up to 16 ppi and a 14 inch folded brass back.

A 16 inch backsaw kit is $120 plus shipping. Same as the 14 inch backsaw kit except it comes with a 16 inch plate and a 16 inch back.
